Before Windows 95, installing and configuring hardwarewas like pulling teeth. The instructions given to do install hardware were toocomplicated for the average user. There was also the issuer of compatibilitybetween the large number of different hardware setups available in the PC world.Is a particular tabular array going to work with my PC? With Windows 95, these problemswere alleviated with plug and undertake technology. With plug and play compatibleboards, the computer detects and configures the new board automatically.
